I have a lifetime of fishing experience, including bill fish and tuna in Hawaii, Florida and Mexico,  halibut in California, Oregon and Alaska, salmon in California and Alaska,  stripers and black bass in the California Delta, sturgeon, shark and stripers in San Francisco Bay, spot, smallie and largemouth bass in California mountain reservoirs and natural lakes, Albacore in California and Washington, some of the above species plus a few others in the Gulf of Mexico, the Everglades, the Baja peninsula, the Farallon Islands, Lake Champlain and Lake George in New York and various Ohio lakes and the Ohio River long ago when I was a kid.  Throw in catfish, panfish, stream and lake trout, and ocean rock fish including ling cod.  A long life with one common thread running through it all: fishing.

About 15 years ago, I decided to sell the last of my ocean boats and go black bass tournament fishing, which I still do, although after over 300 competitive events, I now limit my tournament fishing to two very special clubs.

One thing was common to virtually all of my fishing: Folks with sufficient angling experience hone their skills with many unique and specialized items, otherwise known as “tricks of the trade”.  Many of these are made and sold by folks who are living their dream.  These folks do what they do because of their fishing skills, not their business skills.  The result is a great many products which are under-financed, under-advertised, under-marketed and largely unknown…..except for a select few insiders.  I discovered many wonderful products which were not being sold at all on the West Coast.

I decided to give a try to getting some of these great products into West Coast bait & tackle stores, and Tom Coss Bass Fishing was born.  After a few years, it became clear that great but under-represented products were not limited to bass fishing.  We moved into many other fisheries, and the company became simply Tom Coss Fishing.

As the new kid on the block, we have to outwork the established distributors.  We accomplish that by a combination of unique products, well-stocked inventory, great prices, fast shipment, outstanding and reliable customer service, and a sales rep team with literally hundreds of years of experience.  Our customers are accustomed to receiving their orders placed during the week in time for the weekend rush of that same week.

This site is dedicated to providing additional information on our products, information that exceeds the space limitations of our catalog.  We will do no selling on this site.  The site is provided for anglers interested in learning more about our products, including a list of dealers who stock the products, and to help our customers’ sales personnel become more knowledgeable about our products as well.  Links are provided to the product manufacturers websites, where available, as an additional resource.
